VATRUS presents new fly-in which will take place at Northern Capital of Russia - Saint Petersburg at 29 November between 14:00 and 20:00 UTC.
The
first snow falls in Saint Petersburg. Machines aren’t stopping the
work. Hardly having cleaned just one runway and having passed through
the apron it rushes to clean the second runway. The snow-ploughs aren’t
even having time to finish their work as control gauge gives an
unacceptable layer of deposits on the first runway
The
airport is a fever, on approaches, in holdings, as whatnots are planes
hanging while aspiring to get onto the ground of Pulkovo Airport.
The
Fly-In will imitate the work of Pulkovo Airport in bad meteorological
conditions – In heavy precipiation snow. As legend would one RWY be
open in more than 30 minutes. After that should the runway be closed
for snow-cleaning which will take 10 minutes. A special program will be
installed at the working place of ATC Chief. This program will imitate
increases in the RWY deposits layer and inform on necessity of its
cleaning.
There will be different tasks for controllers.
Besides the simple maintenance of safe intervals between aircrafts will
it also be necessary for controllers to solve tasks. The most difficult
task will be handled by Approach and Radar (Krug) - They should
calculate and provide time so planes can enter the glide slope at
proper time so the cleaning machines can finish the work and vacate the
runway.
The knowledge to holding patterns is a requirement for
pilots as well ass accurate airmanship and radio communication
capabilities are needed.
Those ATC positions will provide service for you: ULLI_GND, ULLI_TWR, ULLI_R_APP, ULLL_APP, ULLL_CTR
